Oh What a Feeling

It's been a while since we've ramped up the tailgate wagon. This morning it was dirty and full of leaves.  This afternoon it had some TLC and was looking better. The electrical system has a clinch. I keep throwing the gfi. I'll bypass this if I need too.  Shopping and food prep has begun. The chafing dishes are polished.  The truck is being loaded.

Things we still need. Oysters if you're coming from the coast. Deviled eggs are always welcomed. See you Sunday at 9AM.

The TV will be going and we will watch the game at the tailgate bar.

Here Is The Deal, Plan Accordingly

The 2016 season is upon us and things have changed a bit since last season.

What has changed is yours truly, Reg, has called it a tailgate career. After a 16 year run, I decided to retire from tailgating. The time and effort involved became too great, which was a sign of our success.

The regularly scheduled home game events are not happening this year.

So, no bar, TVs, RV, and no chaffing dishes and cooking station.

The great news is we are still tailgating in our lot but scaled down for now. Most of the same crew will be there but the tailgating will be a bit more organic. Plan accordingly.

And our Charlotte 49er chapter will be doing what they do each home game.

I, Reg, have agreed to keep the social media going as long as I am given pictures and information to pass along.

Go Panthers!

Planning for a Tailgating Season

Let's face it, the football season runs for a long period of time. College football runs three months at a minimum. The NFL season can run 6 months with the inclusion of preseason and if one is fortunate, post season play.

How does one prepare for the long grueling tailgate season that all tailgaters endure? It takes lots of off-season planning. Now, in March, is he time to start planning the 2016 tailgate season.

If you are a seasoned tailgaters you should be searching your mind for what was missing last year. How can I make the experience better?

Did any equipment break and need to be replaced? Will some new equipment enhance our weekly experience?

What menu items should we add or drop?

Which tailgate was a blunder and why? How do I avoid it again?

Which tailgate was a roaring success and why?

Write it all down and study it.

Hanging Up The Cleats

Yours truly, Reggie Hunnicutt, has retired honorably from weekly operations of Extreme Tailgate Society effective 2/8/16. I've hung up my cleats. Rode off into the sunset. I'm waiting now for the call from the hall of fame of tailgaters.

I plan to stay on as social media mainstay, and be a resource for season and logistic planning. A tailgate think tank so to speak.

I am willing to mentor young minds with strong backs and creative ideas. We need some volunteer fill ins. Inquire within. There is plenty of time to plan next seasons run to the Super Bowl.

The whole process is fun. It's a block party of friends every other week during the season.

Going forward, I will not be attending the tailgate weekly as I have for 16 years. I will watch the game at the local pub or from home.

It has been an honor to help grow this tailgate club over the last 16 years from 5 to 150 tailgate participants. I cherish the friendships I've made while doing something I love. Cooking, marketing, football, and socializing.

Thank you all to those who attended our tailgates and helped build this club.

Reggie
